We collect you from your hotel and drive to Materuni village on the Kilimanjaro slopes.
Hike through Chagga farmland to the thundering Materuni waterfalls, then finish with a traditional coffee experience.
The Materuni waterfalls tumble some 80 metres down the lush southern slopes of Kilimanjaro near the village of Materuni. Getting there is half the fun: a gentle hike through coffee and banana plantations, past streams and mountain forest, with plenty of birdlife.
After the falls — where you can cool off in the spray if you’re brave — the tour continues at a local farm for a hands-on Chagga coffee experience, roasting, grinding and brewing fresh beans before tasting the results. It is one of the most rewarding half-days near Moshi.
The walk is suitable for most ages and fitness levels, with a friendly local guide who shares the story of the village and its farms along the way. Transport, entry fees, the coffee experience and a light lunch are all included, so you can simply enjoy the mountain scenery and the warm Chagga hospitality.
Stand at the base of the powerful Materuni falls as Kilimanjaro snowmelt crashes down in a misty curtain.
Walk scenic trails through coffee, banana and avocado farms with a knowledgeable local guide.
Roast, grind and brew your own coffee the traditional Chagga way, then taste it fresh.
On warm days, take a refreshing dip in the natural pool beneath the falls.

Materuni village lies about 30 minutes’ drive from Moshi, on the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro near the Rongai and Marangu routes. It pairs wonderfully with the Marangu cultural tour for a full day.
About 45 minutes each way, on uneven village paths with one or two stream crossings. A reasonable level of fitness is enough.
Yes — there is a natural pool at the base. It is cold and refreshing, and lovely on a warm day.
Sturdy shoes or trainers are best. Paths can be muddy after rain, so avoid open sandals.
