Our story

A local team, born at the foot of Kilimanjaro

Topi Adventure began in Moshi — the gateway town where every Kilimanjaro climb sets off and where our guides were raised. What started with a handful of mountain climbs has grown into a full-service operator running safaris across the Serengeti, Ngorongoro and beyond, alongside all seven Kilimanjaro routes.

We are deliberately local. The people who plan your trip, guide your climb and drive your safari live here all year round. That means first-hand knowledge, honest advice and a team you can actually meet before you set off — not a distant booking office.

Why travel with us

What we stand for

Six principles that shape every trip we run — from the first email to the last day on the mountain.

Local, not a call centre

We live and work in Moshi. Your guide, your cook and the person answering your emails all know these parks and trails first-hand.

Safety-led climbing

Licensed guides, wilderness first-aid, daily health checks and oxygen on every climb. We make conservative calls when the mountain asks us to.

Honest, all-in pricing

Park fees, permits, crew, meals and transfers are laid out up front — no surprise costs added once you are on the mountain.

Fair crew treatment

Our porters, cooks and guides are paid fairly, insured and given proper equipment, food and shelter on every trip.

Tailor-made, not off-the-shelf

Every trip is shaped around your dates, pace and interests. Private departures are our default, not an expensive upgrade.

Small groups, real pace

Comfortable group sizes and a steady, acclimatisation-friendly rhythm so you enjoy the journey — not just the summit.

The team

The crew behind your trip

Every Topi Adventure journey is powered by Tanzanian people who know the mountains, the bush and the coast by heart.

Mountain guides

Licensed Kilimanjaro guides with years of summit experience, wilderness first-aid training and fluent English.

Safari driver-guides

Park-savvy driver-guides who read the bush, find the wildlife and share the stories behind it.

Trip planners

Our Moshi office team designs your itinerary, handles permits and answers every question before you fly.

Cooks, porters & camp crew

The team that carries, cooks and pitches camp — treated fairly and equipped properly on every climb.

Responsible travel

Good for you, good for Tanzania

Responsible travel is not a slogan for us — it is how a local operator stays welcome in the places it depends on. We look after our crew, our communities and the wild places we travel through.

  • Porter welfare — fair wages, insurance and proper gear for every crew member.
  • Supporting local schools, families and conservation through our community work.
  • Low-impact travel: leave-no-trace camping and responsible wildlife viewing.
  • Honest advice on seasons and routes, so you travel when Tanzania is at its best.

Questions travellers ask us

Are you a local company?

Yes. Topi Adventure is locally owned and operated from Moshi, Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, and is associated with Wild Boar Safaris Limited. Being on the ground means we can meet you in person, plan around real conditions and keep your money within the local community.

Who will guide my trip?

Your trip is led by licensed Tanzanian guides — Kilimanjaro mountain guides and safari driver-guides who grew up around these parks and trails. They are supported by our Moshi office team, and every climb includes trained cooks and porters.

Can I combine Kilimanjaro with a safari or Zanzibar?

Absolutely — and many travellers do. A popular itinerary is a Kilimanjaro climb followed by a Serengeti safari or a few days resting in Zanzibar. Tell us what you have in mind and we will weave it into one seamless, privately guided trip.

Do you offer private and tailor-made trips?

Yes. Most of our trips are private, built around your dates, pace and interests. Whether you want a family safari, a photography-focused Serengeti trip or a specific Kilimanjaro route, we will design the itinerary around you.

How do I book and pay?

Start by sending us an enquiry with your dates and group size. We will reply with a tailored itinerary and a clear quote, and once you are happy we confirm your booking with a deposit. We accept bank transfer and card payments, and the balance is settled before you travel.

Why book with a local operator?

Booking locally keeps more of your money in Tanzania — with the guides, cooks, porters and communities who make your trip happen. You also get first-hand knowledge, direct communication and the freedom to adapt as you go.
