Early pick-up
Depart Moshi or Arusha well before dawn to reach the crater as the gates open and the day begins.
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater — a whole world of wildlife in one volcanic bowl — on a private full-day safari.
The Ngorongoro Crater is the largest intact volcanic caldera on Earth and one of Africa’s greatest wildlife spectacles. Its grassy floor, ringed by 600-metre walls, holds an extraordinary concentration of animals — including the rare black rhino.
On this private day trip you descend into the crater at first light, when predators are still active and the light is beautiful. With a dedicated 4x4, driver-guide and a picnic lunch on the crater floor or rim, you’ll maximise your time among lions, elephants, hippos, flamingos and vast herds of grazing game.
Because the wildlife is concentrated inside a single bowl, the Ngorongoro Crater offers some of the very best game-viewing odds in Africa — even in a single day. Your guide is expert at reading the bush and positioning the vehicle, making this an unforgettable highlight for first-time safari-goers and seasoned travellers alike.
Look for lion, elephant, buffalo and the endangered black rhino in a compact, wildlife-rich arena.
See wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, hippo and flamingo in remarkable numbers — perfect for first-time safari-goers.

The Ngorongoro Crater is around a 4–5 hour drive from Moshi, or about 3 hours from Arusha. Because it is a long day from Moshi, many guests combine it with a longer safari or overnight near Karatu — just ask and we’ll advise.
One full day inside the crater is enough for excellent viewing. If you can, an overnight nearby lets you enter early and avoid the day-tripper crowds.
Lion, elephant, buffalo and rhino are regularly seen; leopard is the trickiest. No sighting is guaranteed, but the crater offers some of the best odds in Africa.
Yes, but it is a very long day with an early start and a late return. An overnight stay is more relaxing and recommended.
