About this safari
The 8-Day Luxury Tanzania Safari is our signature indulgence: the classic northern circuit, stretched just enough to feel truly unhurried, and threaded through the most beautiful lodges and tented suites in the country. It is safari for travellers who want space, service and setting to match the wildlife.
You begin with the elephant herds and baobabs of Tarangire, linger among the flamingos and tree-climbing lions of Lake Manyara, and then settle into the Serengeti for three generous days — enough to chase the migration, return to a favourite pride, or simply watch the light change over the plains from your private deck.
The grand finale is the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest intact caldera, where the Big Five share a single emerald bowl. Across the whole week your private guide shapes each day to your interests, and every lodge is chosen for its views, cuisine and sense of place.
Extra nights, upgraded suites, spa treatments and a hot-air balloon safari can all be folded in. Tell us how you like to travel and we will perfect the details.

Day-by-day plan
Arrival in Moshi or Arusha
You are welcomed at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred privately to your boutique hotel in Moshi or Arusha. Unwind with a welcome drink and dinner, and meet your guide for a briefing that sets the tone for the luxurious week ahead.
Tarangire National Park
Drive south into Tarangire National Park, where baobabs stand like sentinels over the savannah. Elephants are the stars here, moving in large family herds, and your afternoon game drive follows the river where the wildlife concentrates in the dry months.
Lake Manyara National Park
A short, scenic drive reaches Lake Manyara National Park, set between the Great Rift Valley escarpment and its shimmering soda lake. Watch for tree-climbing lions, huge baboon troops and hippos, and enjoy a gourmet picnic before continuing to your lodge on the escarpment rim.
Into the Serengeti
Cross the Ngorongoro highlands and enter the Serengeti National Park. The plains unfurl in every direction, and your first game drive explores the Seronera Valley. Arrive at your tented suite in time for sundowners and a candle-lit dinner beneath the stars.
Full day in the Serengeti
Rise for a dawn game drive, the best hour for predators, then spend the day among kopjes and river valleys. Your guide tailors the route to the season — following wildebeest, tracking a leopard, or finding a quiet corner for a private picnic far from any other vehicle.
Serengeti — northern plains
Your third Serengeti day, time to push toward the northern or western reaches where the migration often gathers. Expect thrilling sightings and, in the peak months, the drama of the Grumeti or Mara rivers. Return to a leisurely evening and a final night on the plains.
Ngorongoro Crater
Travel from the Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Descend onto the crater floor for a full morning among some 25,000 large animals, with a gourmet picnic beside the hippo pool. Ascend to your rim lodge for a celebratory final dinner.
Departure
After a final breakfast with sweeping crater views, drive back to Arusha or Moshi for your onward flight. If you would like to finish on the coast or climb Kilimanjaro, our team can extend the journey seamlessly.

Best time to take this tour
Luxury lodges sell out first in the dry season, so plan well ahead for June to October. The green season rewards early bookers with space and value.
| Season | Weather | Crowds | What to expect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jan–Mar | Warm, largely dry | Moderate | Calving season and superb light; quieter luxury camps |
| Apr–May | Long rains | Low | Green season value with lush landscapes and dramatic skies |
| Jun–Oct | Dry and cool at dawn | High | Prime viewing; herds at the rivers and superb crater sightings |
| Nov–Dec | Short rains | Moderate | Fresh greenery, strong birding and calmer prices |
Route & logistics
The safari is a loop that begins and ends in Arusha or Moshi, travelling through Tarangire, Lake Manyara, the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater. With eight days there is no need to rush, and drives are interspersed with long, luxurious stays.
All road legs are in a private, luxury-equipped 4x4. Light-aircraft flights between the Serengeti and Arusha can shorten travel on request and are a popular upgrade.
Frequently asked questions
How does this differ from the 6-day luxury safari?
This itinerary adds an extra Serengeti day and a Lake Manyara visit, so the pace is gentler and you spend more time in the parks with the most celebrated lodges.
Can you arrange private guides and butlers?
Yes. Many of our signature properties offer butler service and private guiding, and we can arrange private game-drive vehicles throughout.
When should I book?
For the peak June-to-October season, book six to twelve months ahead. Festive-season suites in the Serengeti are often the first to go.
Is a hot-air balloon safari possible?
Yes — a dawn balloon flight over the Serengeti is a magical addition and can be included at extra cost.
Can the tour be customised?
Entirely. Lodge selection, room categories, the number of Serengeti nights and any add-ons are tailored to your preferences.
What is not included?
International flights, visas, travel insurance, premium imported drinks, tips and optional activities are excluded so that pricing stays transparent.
